Cacao Husk Tea
Cacao Husk Tea
Cacao husk tea is a naturally light herbal infusion made from the outer shells of the cacao bean. Instead of using the inner nibs (which become paste), this tea gives new life to what would otherwise be a byproduct of chocolate production.
It has a gentle, comforting flavor: lightly chocolaty with subtle notes of malt, nuts, and sometimes a faint fruity or floral edge.
Because it contains only trace amounts of stimulants compared to coffee or traditional tea, cacao husk tea is often enjoyed as a soothing, low-caffeine alternative. It also carries some of the natural compounds found in cacao, including antioxidants and small amounts of theobromine, which can provide a mild, smooth sense of alertness without the jitters.
Typically brewed like a loose-leaf tea, it’s best steeped in hot water for several minutes to fully release its flavor. It can be enjoyed plain or with a touch of milk, honey, or spices like cinnamon for a richer, dessert-like experience.
